FLAVIEN GUDERZO

First Officer

Born: April 19, 1983, in Rillieux-La-Pape, France. Nationality: French

Despite being 26, Flavien Guderzo has already accrued a decade of flying experience and has been tutored by Riccardo Mortara.

He’s knowledgeable, calm under pressure and has the stamina needed to sustain such a long haul journey.

work3Flavien started to fly when he was 16 years-old. In 2001 he was selected for the international Air Cadet exchange and spent time with the Dutch Air Force and national carrier, KLM. After his Air Transport Pilot training, he worked with a simulator manufacturer and mastered flying the Beach 200. He’s been a pilot with Sonnig SA, Riccardo Mortara’s company, since 2006.

He is an FAI license holder and, like Captain Mortara, one of few pilots to be rated to fly the Sabreliner.

“To circumnavigate the globe, against the clock, and to challenge a giant of aviation like Steve Fossett is a tremendous privilege and I am very thankful to Riccardo for affording me this opportunity.

“I’m confident we’ll succeed. I’m thoroughly looking forward to the trip and if we can enter the record books it will be such an honor. It’s also a long voyage, a lot of hard work both in preparation and during the flight, and it is not going to be easy. It’ll be a true test of endurance, and we can’t afford to make any mistakes.”
